Did we really even have a summer. To quote a mem-ber recently “this was the summer that wasn’t.” Isn’t that the truth? With the return of cooler weather or should I say the continuation of cooler weather, the kids return to school, we close up our camps, and put away our campers. We turn our attention to more inside work. The Northeast Moose is having our end of year convention in Portland, not in Oregon that is Maine Sept. 25th- 28th. If you have never attended you should consider going it is informative and fun. At this meeting we elect our new Northeast Officers and there are a lot of good ideas exchanged. We have some events coming up in the near future that we need somebody to champion. Here are a few examples, The Chili Chowder cook-off, the kids Christ-mas party, Cribbage Tournament. If you are interested in helping with any of these events please let me know I will help you get them up and running. And a shout out to our friend “Clyde”, How ‘bout them Cowboys’. A fraternal program and community service within our Lodge and Chapter system; 2. To provide a family environment and education for children in need and in residence at Mooseheart, Illinois; 3. To provide for the needs of senior members at Moosehaven, Florida; and 4. To promote membership growth and financially strengthen our fraternity. YARD SALE The 13th Annual Dover Moose Yard Sale is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18. Once again, we ask for your donations of good saleable stuff as we offer you the incentive to reduce clutter in your lives! So let's all clean out the barns, cellars and attics, and haul it all down to the lodge any day after Oct. 11. We'll sell it as a fair price and donate the proceeds to charity (undetermined as of this writing). No TV's or A/C units please. See Bob Marshall or Jim Towle with questions. 125 Club News The 125 Club will begin again on Oct. 6, with drawings beginning at 6:45. Still just $1 per week, with chances to win much more. If interested, simply fill out an envelope with your weekly "donation" and place in the "125 Club" box. You can pay as many weeks as you want, and you do not have to be a member to play. Last year's club netted over $400 for charity, not including the donations we made from the team trivia contests. Expect more trivia, mini meat bingos, and wheel spinnin' fun. Thank you to Dave Curry for chairing the last club, and who will still make guest appearances this time around, and to Stephen Moynahan and Kelly Hubbard for running the summer 115 club. Congratulations Dover Chapter for receiving the Award of Achievement…And BIG Congratulations to Rhonda Dean for receiving her Green Cap Call Card. Rhonda will receive her Green Cap at the Convention in September. Way to go Rhonda!! |
